Standing Committees

The Baton Rouge Progressive Network has five standing committees populated by community volunteers dedicated to helping us further our mission and vision. If you are interested in joining one of the committees listed below, please contact info@brprogress.net.

BUILDING THE NETWORK COMMITTEE: Helps meet community needs through programs and services that support the mission of BRPN. This committee includes three subcommittees: 
  • Community Engagement 
  • Public Policy & Advocacy 
  • Communications & Outreach 

RADIO STATION COMMITTEE: Governs the community radio station. This committee includes three subcommittees: 
  • Radio Station Development 
  • Radio Station Programming 
  • Radio Station Technical 

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE: Works to raise funds to support BRPN’s ongoing projects brought forth by the Building the Network Committee and Radio Station Committee. This committee works actively to solicit major donors, prepare grant proposals, and expand BRPN and WHYR membership. 


BOARD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: Educates and prepares board members to support the organization. Seeks Board expansion when necessary and provides new Board member orientation. This committee includes 2 subcommittees: 
  • Governance Policy 
  • Strategic Plan Monitor and Tracking 

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: (Officers Only). Shall set board meeting agenda and monitor Board committees’ annual scope of work. Additionally, monitors income and expenses of the organization and keeps the Board informed of financial status (including ensuring BRPN complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations). Makes recommendation on organization’s sustainability efforts.
